The North’s first modular housing factory will soon open in Arviat under the name Sakku Innovative Building Solutions. The goal of the new venture is to add hundreds of new homes to the region’s housing infrastructure within the next few years while keeping jobs, training and profits here in the Kivalliq.
SIBS will overcome the challenges of building in the North by manufacturing the modules
indoors and then shipping them to communities for final assembly and finishing. The plant will create full-time employment while also providing thousands of hours of apprenticeship training.
