Another project taking shape is expansion of Larga Kivalliq, the home-away-from-home in Winnipeg for Inuit who must travel south for medical treatment and other reasons. Sakku is now searching for a new home for Larga, either through purchase or lease of a new building, or
perhaps new construction.
For 20 years, the medical boarding home has provided a comfortable, welcoming place to stay during what can be very stressful times away. But after 20 years of operation, we can’t keep up with the demand for beds. As we move to a larger building, we’ll also look for ways to add more services, making the experience of medical travel as convenient and worry-free as possible.
